We are a growing organization found in 2007, we have nationwide operations and are relying on distinct free technologies used by different departments. This has resulted in Data silos and it is becoming tough to integrate these silos to come up with actionable intelligence. We need to bring integration at organization level, without losing the data Ease of implementation and use is obviously two big criteria, but we do need to rationalize cost as well

Large North American Financial Services company. In 2013, the company undertook an initiative to modernize an aging mainframe legacy application from CoolGen to an internally defined distributed Java framework. The company’s retirement planning system needed to be re-architected/migrated from its existing 3M lines of code CoolGen services running on a mainframe to a ‘to be’ distributed Java target state infrastructure. The IT leadership was challenged to reduce the estimated annual mainframe operational cost of $8M with the move to a distributed infrastructure. They were also challenged to support the need to increase the workload through expected acquisitions and partnerships. The company was unsuccessful with two previous internal projects to perform this migration. Until speaking with Accenture, the company was unaware of Blu Age tooling and an approach that could migrate CoolGen through re-architecting principles to their custom Java framework with measurable quality and speed.

By leveraging the Blu Age language migration tooling, the modernization of the CoolGen application was completed 5x faster than the industry estimated average for manual rewrite (200 lines of code per day vs. 1000 using the tooling). Through performance testing, the re-architected distributed Java solution is 2x faster than the legacy CoolGen services running on the mainframe. When the move to the distributed infrastructure is completed, the company will realize at least $8M in annual operating cost reductions.
