Summary

Qubole Big Data Software is a suitable storage and analytics solution for data-intensive projects such as machine learning that require large amounts of object storage in the cloud. Often dubbed as a data lake, the platform is meant for big data storage that reduces management workload on the users. With additional AI capabilities, users can also leverage ad-hoc analytics and data engineering services.

Qubole Pricing:

As Qubole Big Data Software is a platform-as-a-service provider, Qubole pricing is capped at a fee of $0.14 per QCU (Qubole Compute Unit) per hour on an annual contract. The user only pays for the active hours spent using the platform. Qubole pricing helps in cost reduction as there’s no fixed monthly bill.

Qubole Demo:

Users wanting to demo the platform can sign up for a test-oriented trial for two weeks or a full-featured trial for up to a month. These trials offer a comprehensive test run of the entire system for the users.

Qubole Features:

Key features of Qubole that make it a favourite among other data lake providers are:

  • Open access to datasets
    • Users can access a large number of datasets in the cloud for machine learning activities.
    • Optimized performance makes accessing objects in the cloud faster.
  • Easier to adopt for data science engineers
    • Qubole comes with its own workbench and well-laid documentation, that is helpful for data science engineers.
    • A myriad of open-source data processing tools such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, TensorFlow etc. are supported.
  • Reduces management workloads
    • The platform employs automation of several management tasks such as software installation and data cluster maintenance.
    • It comes pre-packed with tools for ad-hoc analytics for the users.
  • Lower data storage costs
    • Qubole follows the pay-as-you-go model which charges you for only the data resources that you actually use.
    • Autoscaling infrastructure saves costs by balancing the downtime and excessive capacity requirements dynamically.

“Recently decided to migrate workloads to Quoble and it’s great”

We recently leveraged Qubole though S3 on AWS to move our Spark, Hive, Pig & Presto and the task was so easy. We just had to connect our data sets and it was done.
