The company acquired Viptela Inc., which provides Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) services, in order to reduce cost, help in easy network management, and improve agility. With this acquisition, Cisco would be able to expand its product portfolio along with increased functionality distributed through the cloud. Apart from acquisitions, Cisco teamed up with Samsung and formed a partnership with Verizon in order to provide interconnected multi-vendor 5G trials for home broadband service. The solution is the integration of services provided by service providers such as Cisco’s ultra-service platform along with advanced services and Samsung Virtual RAN (VRAN) solutions paired with Samsung’s 5G radio base station and 5G home routers. Furthermore, Cisco entered into a partnership with Ericsson to offer best of services of both the companies such as routing, data center, cloud, networking, management and control, mobility, and global services management.
